Part of our course requires us to choose a subject to photograph specifically for the blog. I have chosen to photograph an allotment near where I live. There is something very special about this environment. People working on the land to grow their own vegetables, the idea of some level of self sufficiency and getting back to nature. The sign in the first picture reads “stress free zone”, it’s a place that many people escape to from the stresses and strains of daily life. But at this time of year, it is all about the preparation and planting for this years crop, back breaking work . I have experimented with using flash in these pictures, I showed them to one of the allotment owners who said it killed the naturalness of the light, he might be right, but I quite like it.
